We are planning an information packed fly-in to McClellan Airport (KMCC) in Sacramento on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Plan on arriving between 1000 and 1015 at the McClellan Jet Services. McClellan Airport is a major staging facility for Cal-Fire’s wildfire response. Cal-Fire has graciously volunteered to provide shuttle service to us around the airport for our activities. They have promised to be as flexible as possible with pickups and drop-offs. First up on the day’s agenda is to shuttle over to, and tour Cal-Fire’s facility and operations at McClellan. Timing will be roughly 1030 to 1130hrs. Then we will be shuttled over to the McClellan Air Museum (https://aerospaceca.org/). Admission is $10 seniors/veterans, $12 Youth 5/17, and $15 Adults. You can tour the museum at your leisure, meeting up at the cafeteria at 1230hrs for lunch. At 1400hrs we will shuttle over to Sacramento City College’s hangar and classroom where we will tour the facility and listen to a short presentation on their Airframe & Powerplant mechanic certification program. This is a 2-year, 1900 hour FAA preparation course. We should conclude the day about 1500hrs with a shuttle back to our airplanes at McClellan Jet Services.
The McClellan Jet Services would like to get a list of N Numbers so that they can properly plan and assist us as their guests. No cost for transient parking.
We can’t be sure how much activity Cal-Fire will be involved in in Mid-July, but they have promised to accommodate us one way or another and may require some agenda adjustment.
