Grumman Owners and Pilots Association Aviation Maintenance Technician Scholarship Fund Program The Grumman Owners and Pilots Association maintenance technician scholarship program is designed for students seeking to attain their Airframe and Powerplant or equivalent approved Aviation Mechanic Certificate/License base on country of origin. Scholarships are valued up to $2500 and are based on available annual funds. For year 2025, funds are available for two scholarships. This scholarship is intended for an in-person attendance school having a fall, spring, or summer similar class admission or schedule. Other programs will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Eligibility Candidates must be currently enrolled in an approved aviation accredited tuition base program and have completed at least one semester of school like, or similar to the following.
Candidates may be from any country up to the age of twenty-five at time of application. A GOPA member or relation to a GOPA member in good standing will have first priority in receiving a scholarship award; however this scholarship is open to all qualified candidates who apply. Application Candidates must submit their applications and supporting documents listed below to the committee chairperson no earlier than July 1st and by August 1st of each year. The scholarship recipients will be notified approximately September 1st of the given year whether or not they have been selected. The application form is here. Required Documentation You must submit a current school transcript that shows the completion of at least one semester in an approved certified aviation mechanic school and… A 500 word essay describing your aviation goals and three letters of recommendation are required from. All application will be evaluated by the GOPA Maintenance Scholarship Committee and chaired by the Past President, a certified aircraft mechanic, and one additional GOPA member. Support and Donations This scholarship is supported by generous donations and corporations who understand the current and future projected shortages of aviation maintenance technicians. Funding for the scholarships comes solely from contributions of GOPA members and corporate friends of the GOPA and not from dues or any other GOPA funds.
